Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Petite Sirah plays a dominant role in our 2023 Madrone Spring
Red Wine. With intense pigmentation, this release combines
notes of crushed sweet blueberries, cured meats, herbed olive and
toasted almond with undertones of vanilla pod and powdered
sugar. Firm and voluptuous tannins, a hallmark of Rockpile fruit,
provide further reward. This gorgeous blend would benefit from at
least 12+ months of bottle age and will be best enjoyed over the
next 7+ years.
Vineyard Notes
Located within our family’s Rockpile Ridge Vineyard, the Madrone
Spring block is composed of three distinct varietals: Zinfandel,
Petite Sirah and Syrah. This site has the coolest microclimate in
Rockpile, due to the northwest orientation, and it produces wines
of great vitality and distinction.
Winemaker Notes
Our intention with the Madrone Spring release is to create a blend
that exemplifies this unique area of our original homesteaded
property and showcases the extraordinary affinity and alchemy of
the varietals. Originally dominated by Zinfandel and
complemented with Petite Sirah and Syrah, this blend has varied
by release. Regardless of the varietal breakdown, our goal is always
to make the best wine that expresses the site in a specific vintage.
